How we work

OuR needs

In the state of Tennessee, more than 265,000 youth have been diagnosed with a mental health issue, and approximately 62,000 adolescents ages 12-17 have had a major depressive episode in the past year. There is a lack of therapeutic resources from counselors or school psychologists, especially during the loss of a family member or friend in urban schools. We understand this to be a concern in other states, countries and cities around the globe.

Our Impacts

Within the last two years, we’ve created a sense of balance and specialized attention to participants who come from disrupted homes in our program. We’ve reached over 100 students in 3 different states and over 6 cities with over 300+ hours of music training lessons. We’ve started our national initiative in 2019, expanding MTYP summer camps to Tennessee and North Carolina. Next stop: MTYP in all 50 states and cities across the globe!

Our COMMITMENT

We are committed to bridging the learning curve gap for under-served communities by becoming the training ground that will positively impact their ability to socially and economically succeed.

“We use music to move people's attitudes toward positivity."

Projected yearly growth

2017 - 2019

YEAR by YEAR GROWTH

In 2017, we registered about 20 students from 2 different states and 4 different cities for piano lessons. And for the finale, we rewarded our MTYP spotlight winner with a recording studio session experience at Omni Sound Studios on Music Row.

In 2018, we registered about 50 attendees, and expanded our camp to include Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Music Production lessons. We awarded our MTYP spotlight winner with a recording studio session with super producer, Tim Hill, who’s worked with Kendrick Lamar, Bushwick Bill, Haystack, and more.

In 2019, we’ve partnered with the Jackie Ward Foundation and expanded our MTYP summer camp to North Carolina!
